- When outputting all white pixels to high resolution displays the ads512101 freeze or reboots top
An issue has been discovered with the ADS512101 connections to the DDR MVTT and MVREF pins. They are both connected to the same 0,9volt rail. They should be powered separately. See the ADS512101 Rev 4 Errata dated 9/16/2009 or later for a solution.
- The ADS512101 Ethernet does not work top
Before contacting ADS512101@silicontkx.com for support, try this Ehternet test. On a PC Linux server:
Identify IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.yyy
Identify gateway IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.zzz
Identify a free IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
At u-boot prompt set the IP address of teh ADS512101 to the free address:
set ipaddr xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Set the gateway and server IP addresses:
set gatewayip xxx.xxx.xxx.zzz
set serverip xxx.xxx.xxx.yyy
set netmask 255.255.255.0
save
ping $serverip
If the ping is successful at u-boot prompt the hardware is OK.
If you can ping in u-boot but cannot ping in (LTIB) Linux, see patch: linux-2.6.24.6-mpc5121-122-FEC-fix-fec-DMA_CONTROL-field-o.patch on www.bitshrine.org/gpp.
A work around (without this patch) is to ping first in u-boot before booting to (LTIB) Linux
- Is the MPlus5121 based on the ADS512101? top
Yes, MPlus5121 features the ADS512101 mainboard in a small Mini-ITX case. The system includes a hard drive, Micro-SD card, XGA 8.4 inch LCD and integrated power supply. Freescale's Linux OS is included.
- What is the difference between Hellrosa and Freescale's ADS512101? top
The product is the same. The ADS512101 includes a development kit.
- Is the MPC5121e on the ADS512101 in a socket? top
For the current Rev 3 ADS512101, the MPC5121e is not in a socket.
- My ADS512101 PATA does not function. How can I fix it? top
At this time, PATA does not function on the ADS512101. It will be functioning on the Revision 4 board due in July 2008. If you need PATA on your current ADS512101, Contact STx for upgrades or return authorization.
- How do I use the SD Card Device? top
The SD is a micro (uSD) which is mechanically smaller but electrically identical. When you buy a micro-SD card, you get an SD card carrier to insert it into SD slots when needed. Drivers for the micro-SD will be available soon from STx.
- What version silicon (MPC5121e) is available on the current (Rev3) ADS512101? top
The current MPC5121e revision is 1.5 for the Rev 3, ADS512101.
- How do I reset power cycling? top
If the board does not appear to be on (LEDs not lighting), hold the power button down for 5 seconds. Release. Then press power button again. If this does not solve the problem, please Contact STx for a possible CPLD update.
- What is the GPU for the ADS512101? top
MBX Core from Imagination Technology
- The color in the video output isn't correct. How do I fix this? top
Some ADS512101 boards with LTIB preloaded operate in two video modes. A command has been patched in Freescale's LTIB that will enable either mode of operation. This command changes the number of color bits that drive each of the video output modes. Default enables the DVI (J6) output for correct color information. In the default mode both the LVDS (P20) and TFT (P21) will not output correct color information.
To enable both the LVDS video out (P20) and TFT video out (P21) a command has to be executed at the Linux prompt as follows: gamma_set LCD
To switch back to DVI video output, execute at the Linux prompt: gamma_set
If the color outputs in your ADS512101 does not change with this command, current LTIB Changes and patches are in the STx Downloads.
- Does the ADS512101 support Wimax? WLAN? Bluetooth? top
Yes, the ADS512101 supports wireless connectivity via a mini-PCI radio. You must choose a radio board and transmitter for this.
- My ADS512101 SATA does not function. How can I fix it? top
The MPC5121e SATA function has errata. This is expected to be correct on Freescale's next release and will be available in the ADS512101 Rev 4 product due in July 2008.
- The DVI output continues to have problems even after removing resistor R234. top
U-Boot puts the registers in a known state at power-up. The only write that u-boot does for the DVI controller is at address 0x38 -- it initializes reg 0x8 to value 0xbf. This puts it in normal operating mode from reset.
- The CAN interface is slow. Can the performance be improved? top
CAN does work but it is slow due to low supply rail, 3.3V. This can be corrected by routing the CAN Vdd pin of xcvr. Lift the Vcc pin of 3.3 and connect a wire from the CAN xcvr to a 5volt supply pin.
- The DRAM on the ADS5121 evaluation board appears to require on-die termination, ODT; however this is disabled in both the Micron DRAM (in the EMR) and the DRAM controller of the processor (in the DDR System Configuration Register).
Could you please confirm that this is the correct configuration for the DRAM and if so, why is no ODT required? top
ODT is a chip option and only needed for high speed DRAM (like 800 or 1066 MHz) which is not used with the MPC5121.
- When displaying via DVI connector, the video fails to display. This is more apparent when operating with an ATX supply. top
The DVI controller needs to be brought out of reset after power on. This is accomplished by placing a 32 AWG mod wire between R232’s right pad and R32’s right pad.
- VGA display has some lack of clarity. top
This may be due to an over driving of the VGA output. The resistors R224, R226, R229 must be halved in value (37.5 ohms).
- Rebooting or erratic behavior of ADS512101 Rev 4.x. top
An issue with U2, 3.3v regulator, was discovered during memory intensive operations that may result in erratic behavior such as restarts or the CPU freezing. Corrective action requires the addition of a wire and and the latest CPLD code. Contact ADS512101@silicontkx.com or 800.827.2650 x182 for an RMA or more details on field repairs.
- I have enabled touch screen drivers (input drivers) and touch screen option in qtopia (free-2.2) in ltib, but qtopia application doesn’t seem to be receiving any input on tapping the screen. top
A potential issue with the ground stability on PIN 5 of P8. If you can check the voltage and it is NOT 0volts (it may be as high as 0.8volts), you will have to connect a strap to a better ground. We suggest strapping it to Pin 2 of P6.
- What's up with the PCB color? top
The ADS512101 has been produced in three PCB mask colors. The original was a standard brown. In 2008 the color was changed to red for marketing reasons. In 2009 it was changed to light beige (off white) for quality control purposes. Mask color does NOT affect performance.
